From new block paving and concrete drives to porcelain patios, paths and full garden dig outs, we look after the groundwork and the finish. Every job starts with the base done properly, because that is what keeps a drive or patio level, solid and draining well. We work on homes and commercial sites, and leave every job clean and tidy.

Block paving drives

A block paving drive gives the front of your home a smart, finished look and copes well with everyday parking. We lay new drives and extend existing ones, in charcoal or other colours, with buff borders or pinstripes if you want a contrast. Plaspave is also available.

We start by digging out the old surface and taking the waste away. A sub base is laid and compacted, edging is set to line, then the blocks are laid in your chosen pattern on a bedding layer. Finally the joints are filled with kiln dried sand and the drive is compacted, giving a firm surface that drains properly and is easy to look after.

Concrete drives

A concrete drive is a hard wearing, low maintenance choice that stands up to cars, vans and the weather. We lay concrete drives across Cleethorpes, Grimsby and Humberston, and can finish them with charcoal block edging for a neat, defined border.

The old drive is dug out and cleared, then a sub base is laid and compacted so the concrete has a solid footing. We set the shuttering, pour the concrete, level it and finish it with a fall so rainwater runs off, adding expansion joints so it can move without cracking. It is then left to cure properly, giving you a clean, durable drive that needs very little upkeep.

Patios: porcelain and natural stone

A new patio gives you a level, usable space to sit out, eat and enjoy the garden. We lay porcelain patios in greys, buffs and other colours, as well as natural stone such as Indian sandstone and limestone. Porcelain stays smart with very little care, while natural stone gives a softer, traditional look.

We dig out the area, lay and compact the sub base, then bed each slab on a full bed of mortar, priming the back of porcelain so it bonds properly, and set it with a fall so water runs away from the house. The joints are filled with grout or jointing compound for a clean finish, and edges are tidied off to the lawn, borders or walls around it.

Paths and steps

Good paths make it easier and safer to get round your home and garden. We lay side paths, garden paths and front paths in porcelain, paving or block paving, straight or curved, often matched to a new drive or patio so everything ties together.

Each path is dug out, given a compacted sub base and laid level with a slight fall so it does not hold water. Where the ground changes height, we build steps to suit, including porcelain steps and plaspave steps, so the levels in your garden are easy to use.

Gravel and decorative stone

Gravel and decorative stone are a simple way to finish borders, edges and corners that would otherwise need constant weeding or mowing. They look tidy all year round and work well alongside a new path or patio.

We clear and level the area first, lay a membrane to help keep weeds down, then spread the stone evenly and edge it so it stays where it should. The result is a neat, low maintenance finish that lets water drain straight through.

Alongside domestic driveways and gardens, we take on commercial groundwork. That includes laying block paving on industrial yards and access routes, excavation and site preparation, and drainage for commercial properties.

Every job starts with the ground prepared properly, whether that is a compacted sub base for paving or a safe, supported dig for drainage and services. We work cleanly on site and leave the area tidy when we are done.
